Pune: Purnakuti, a leading social organization committed to empowering marginalized communities in Pune, proudly celebrated its 13th anniversary. To mark this milestone, Purnakuti relaunched its production unit brand, ‘Label Purnakuti,’ and introduced the #RukengeNahi campaign, which is closely aligned with the foundation’s ongoing social initiatives.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Suraj Mahajan (Probationary Assistant Commissioner, Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Department, Pune) and Mr. Mule (Officer, NULM Department, Pune Municipal Corporation). Both guests commended Purnakuti’s efforts and emphasized the importance of skill development and sustainable approaches to community empowerment.
Since its inception in 2011, Purnakuti has positively impacted over 10,000 lives through vocational training programs, guidance, and self-development workshops across various sectors, including fashion, beauty, and food. Through its flagship initiative, ‘Project Dhara,’ more than 1,800 women have been trained in skills such as tailoring, makeup, mehndi art, catering, and cotton bag making. Over 50% of these women now earn a steady monthly income ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹15,000.
The ‘Manosakha’ project has also made a significant difference, providing over 1,100 children in Pune and Hyderabad with education in English, Mathematics, and Marathi, addressing critical issues like school dropouts and child labor. With support from the Mirai Asset Foundation, Purnakuti has also opened new therapeutic education centers under the ‘Manosakha’ project. Additionally, students involved in the project have been awarded scholarships through the CSR Foundation of Allcargo Logistics Limited. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Purnakuti stepped in to support many vulnerable families.
In 2022, Purnakuti established a new center in Pune’s Budhwar Peth, focusing on marginalized groups, including women working in the red-light areas, transgender individuals, and children. By 2023, Purnakuti expanded its reach with nine community centers across Pune, promoting vocational training and income generation initiatives to help build sustainable livelihoods and brighter futures for these communities.
